Our Interior Design Services

Earlier this year, we walked you through our studio goals for 2021, outlining all that’s ahead in the immediate future. We shared news of our upcoming rebrand (which is still underway!), our moves towards more socially conscious sourcing, and even teased some exciting brand collaborations currently in the works.

Along with all these updates, we shared a bit more about our growing nationwide client base and our shift to an exclusive full-service design model. Over the past several years, we have honed our process to prioritize full-service work, which allows us to take a project from start to finish. Whether we’re working with clients locally here in Minneapolis or remotely through distance design, we’re so excited to offer each JMI client the true turn-key experience.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the industry terminology, we decided to dedicate today’s post to unpacking the ins and outs of full-service interior design. We’ll share more about what full-service really means, what the experience looks like throughout a project, and why a full-service model best serves our clients—local and distance alike!

What is Full-Service Interior Design?

As the design industry has boomed, our team has steadily grown, our client base has expanded, we’ve learned there’s a definite sweet spot for our services. At the beginning stage of starting an interior design business, I learned about the dozens of different service models, each with its own set benefits and drawbacks. But as our studio has continued to grow and evolve, we’ve chosen to niche into what is most often referred to as “full service” design. In the simplest terms, this means we handle the entire project from concept to completion, no exceptions.

In working on a wide variety of projects, we’ve found there are always issues that come up—whether it’s a full-scale renovation or a simple refurnish. As designers, we want to be there throughout the entire process to make sure everything goes to plan, and a full-service model allows us to do exactly that.

Here’s a closer look at what full-service design allows us to offer each client that comes through our studio:

  • Source from any vendor (even international vendors)

  • Create truly custom pieces with talented craftspeople

  • Address issues immediately, as we have a personal relationship with our vendors

  • Make adjustments to plans when concerns arise within renovation and new build projects

  • Offer white glove delivery for a true reveal moment

What to Expect as a Full-Service Client?

While full-service is our preferred model as creatives, it also allows us to deliver our clients an incredible experience. We’re able to manage a project from design through procurement to installation and work directly with our clients’ construction team. This ensures every design plan comes to life through curated finishes, elevated fixture selections, and the highest caliber craftsmanship through our four-phase design process.

In fact, we recently hired a dedicated procurement manager, Samantha, to manage all of the headaches that come with ordering and installation. Her job is to help streamline all our backend processes, and we’re so thrilled to have her join the team.

If you’re interested in learning more about the details of our process, we’ve outlined a full breakdown here: Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV.

How Does Full-Service Work With Distance Design?

In previous posts, we’ve shared all about our approach to distance design. You might be surprised to learn our work has taken to 13 states (and counting), and it’s safe to say we’ve mastered the art of managing projects from afar. So much goes into interior design, and we don’t take the responsibility of our projects lightly. That’s why we only offer full-service design to our clients at a distance, giving them a turn-key experience from concept to completion. We are along for the entire project, step-by-step, to make sure it turns out exactly as our clients have envisioned.

In terms of client experience, we offer our distance projects the same exact level of bespoke service that our local clients receive. We have such a robust backend process in place which makes it easy for us to translate everything for our clients across the country.
